Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday instructed authorities to complete the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) within the established timeline.

During a high-level meeting convened to assess the ongoing privatisation process, the prime minister insisted that openness remain central to the entire procedure. He called for active engagement with investors and the organisation of roadshows to ensure broad participation.

Sharif further directed that the privatisation of PIA—as well as any future divestments involving state-owned enterprises—should be broadcast live across television and digital platforms. This, he said, would guarantee full visibility for the public.

Officials briefed the prime minister on the investor engagement strategy, developed in coordination with consultants and already in progress. They also presented details on bidding criteria, timelines, and conditions for potential participants.

The session was attended by key government figures, including federal ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar; Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan; advisors Muhammad Ali and Syed Tauqir Shah; Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani; Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar; National Coordinator of the Special Investment Facilitation Council Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ahmed; along with other senior officials.
