SHINE Humanity Inaugurates Fourth Mobile Urgent Care Unit to Serve Pakistan’s Most Inaccessible Communities

SHINE Humanity Pakistan proudly announced the inauguration of its fourth Mobile Urgent Care Unit (MUC). The MUC is a state-of-the-art clinic on wheels designed to deliver essential healthcare to disaster-affected and underserved communities across rural Sindh.

The ceremony was held at the residence of Mr. Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Chairman of the AKD Group. SHINE Humanity’s MUCs have been a cornerstone of the organization’s disaster response and rural healthcare strategy since their introduction following the devastating floods of 2022. Designed to traverse difficult terrain and respond rapidly to urgent needs, these clinics embody SHINE’s commitment to reaching the unreachable and serving the underserved.

While hospitals and clinics remain out of reach for countless rural families, SHINE Humanity’s fleet of Mobile Urgent Care Units bridges that critical gap. Equipped with qualified doctors, trained medical staff, essential medicines, and diagnostic equipment, these mobile clinics provide effective and immediate urgent care directly at the community’s doorstep.

Built specifically to serve communities devastated by recent climate disasters and those living where roads, infrastructure, and medical facilities are scarce, the MUCs travel from village to village, setting up in hard-to-reach areas and delivering life-saving services along the way. This newly inaugurated unit will travel through the districts of Badin, Sujawal, and Tharparkar, bringing immediate medical relief to communities with little or no access to healthcare.

Over the past year alone, SHINE’s existing Mobile Urgent Care Units have delivered vital healthcare services to more than 23,000 beneficiaries across Gharo, Sujawal, Thatta, Mirpur Sakro, and Makli in rural Sindh. These units are not one-time medical camps; they are sustained lifelines. The MUCs regularly return to the same communities to conduct follow-up visits, monitor patient progress, and ensure continuity of care for those who begin their treatment through SHINE’s services.

For patients battling conditions such as Diabetes, Hepatitis, Malnutrition, and other chronic or urgent health concerns, this consistent follow-up can mean the difference between recovery and relapse. In areas where even a single hospital visit can require hours of travel, these mobile clinics are vital resources, restoring not just health but ensuring continuity of care.

The MUCs also play a critical role in identifying chronic or complex cases that require long-term management, referring patients to SHINE’s primary healthcare clinics or tertiary hospitals when advanced treatment and specialized care are needed.

“Healthcare should not be a privilege of geography – it is the right of every human being,” said Faheem Khan, Chief Executive Officer of SHINE Humanity Pakistan, at the inauguration event. “When a mother has to choose between traveling miles for treatment or watching her child suffer at home, the system has already failed her. With this additional Mobile Urgent Care Unit, we are taking healthcare beyond city walls and paved roads, directly into the heart of the communities who need it most.”

At the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Aqeel Karim Dhedhi joined in prayer, stating “In launching this initiative, our prayers are for its success and continued growth. We seek guidance from Allah in every step of this new chapter, ensuring that this endeavor remains a benefit to the community, and pray that SHINE’s dedication to serving humanity is accepted and blessed.” Ameen.

The fourth MUC further strengthens SHINE Humanity’s dedication to Pakistan’s rural population: delivering urgent medical care, sustained follow-up, and reliable access to healthcare for communities.
