SIC Walkout Halts Punjab Assembly Chief Minister Election

Lawmakers from the opposition Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) staged a walkout during a debate with Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan, leading to a halt in proceedings.

Despite the speaker’s insistence on adhering to the assembly agenda, the SIC members protested and left the session.

The disruption occurred as the assembly prepared for the election of the chief minister, with PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz set to compete against SIC’s Rana Aftab.

The walkout ensued after the speaker announced the voting procedure, prompting slogans and the boycott of the election by SIC lawmakers.
