In a move to provide relief to electricity consumers, the Sindh government has initiated a ‘Floating Solar Power’ project at Keenjhar Lake, approximately 36 kilometers from Thatta city, sources told Headline PK.
Officials from Sindh’s Department of Energy have signed an agreement with Go Energy Pvt Ltd to launch the project, expected to be completed in two years. The project will supply 500 MegaWatts of electricity to K-Electric via the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC)’s network.
At the signing ceremony, Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah emphasized that this system will benefit power consumers in the province. He also urged the federal government to provide sufficient gas supplies to address the energy shortage in Karachi.
Shah noted that Sindh is the first province to lay a transmission line, highlighting the province’s priority to complete ongoing projects as other provinces begin obtaining licenses.
