The Sindh High Court has nullified over 54,000 recruitments made by the Sindh government in response to advertisements issued in August 2023.

The verdict was delivered by a single-judge bench led by Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, following a petition by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P). Representing MQM, lawyer Faroogh Naseem and the advocate general for Sindh presented their arguments in court.

The court has instructed the provincial government to re-advertise all the positions and to conduct fresh interviews and examinations according to the established rules and regulations. Specifically, the positions from Grade 1 to 15 are to be filled at the district level, with all recruitments made in August 2023 being declared null and void.

During the hearing, the advocate general for Sindh suggested that the provincial government would re-advertise the positions, conduct fresh examinations, and subsequently hold interviews in compliance with the law.
