Sindh Information Department reviews finances in key oversight meeting

A high-level meeting of the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC) of the Information Department, Government of Sindh, was held on Tuesday, Chaired by the Director General Public Relations, Dr. Moez Pirzada, with a focus on financial discipline, transparency, and administrative accountability.

The meeting brought together senior officials to conduct a comprehensive review of financial and administrative matters related to the department’s operations. Discussions centered on the performance of various sections, adherence to financial rules, and measures to strengthen accountability mechanisms within the department.

Addressing participants, Dr. Pirzada underscored that transparency and good governance remain central to the government’s policy framework. He emphasized that no leniency would be shown in matters related to financial irregularities or procedural violations. “Transparency and accountability are not optional; they are essential to public trust and institutional credibility,” he said, according to officials present at the meeting.

Dr. Pirzada directed all sections of the department to strictly comply with existing rules and regulations and to ensure that public funds are utilized efficiently and only for their intended purposes. He stressed that financial discipline must be observed at every level, adding that responsible management of resources directly impacts service delivery and institutional performance.

A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to pending audit objections. Officials reviewed outstanding audit paras in detail, and clear instructions were issued to relevant officers to resolve them within stipulated timelines. Dr. Pirzada instructed departments to prioritize the clearance of audit observations and to maintain proper documentation to avoid future discrepancies.

The Director General also highlighted the importance of holding DAC meetings on a regular basis. He expressed confidence that the continued functioning of the committee would not only enhance financial transparency but also contribute to long-term improvements in governance and administrative efficiency within the Information Department.

The meeting was attended by Director Information Mansoor Rajput, along with Imtiaz Ali Joyo, Irshad Chandio, Shehzad Sheikh, Majid Khan, Ghulam Abbas Goraho, and Shabana Channa. Deputy Directors Aleem Khan and other concerned officers were also present. Officials described the meeting as a constructive step toward reinforcing accountability and ensuring that financial practices align with government standards and public expectations.
