Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon announced the provincial government’s ambition to launch a bullet train connecting Karachi to Sukkur, aiming to revolutionize transportation in the region.
Speaking at a press conference, Memon emphasized that the project would be executed in two phases, offering significant opportunities for investment. He highlighted ongoing efforts to attract foreign investors, stating that multiple government departments are actively engaging with international stakeholders.
“Improving transportation in Karachi remains a top priority, with the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) at the forefront,” Memon said. He also revealed plans to establish a bus manufacturing plant in Karachi to supply affordable buses, creating local employment opportunities.
Addressing road safety concerns, Memon stressed the enforcement of motor vehicle fitness laws to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Despite challenges, Memon assured that international investors remain optimistic about Pakistan. “No amount of negative propaganda can deter global businessmen who continue to show interest in investing across various sectors,” he said.
