Mountaineer Sirbaz Khan has etched his name in history yet again by summiting Mount Everest in Nepal, the tallest peak globally, without the use of supplementary oxygen. This remarkable achievement marks Khan as the first and only Pakistani to conquer 11 peaks over 8,000 meters without oxygen assistance.

Adding to his accolades, Sirbaz Khan joins the elite ranks as the second Pakistani mountaineer, following Sajid Sadpara, to reach the summit of the 8,849-meter peak without relying on supplementary O2. Impressively, he has also conquered 13 out of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 meters.

Sirbaz Khan had previously scaled Mount Everest with bottled oxygen in 2021. However, this time, he opted for a more challenging feat, reaching the summit without supplemental oxygen. His triumphant ascent occurred on Tuesday around 12:30 PST.

Naila Kiani, the first Pakistani woman to conquer the fifth highest peak globally, extended her heartfelt congratulations to Sirbaz for his extraordinary achievement, emphasizing the unparalleled determination required for such a feat.

“Sirbaz is also the only Pakistani to climb Everest twice. Climbing Everest without oxygen is a true test of human grit. Congratulations, Ustad,” she praised.

With only Shishapangma left to fulfill his ambition of conquering all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters worldwide, Sirbaz Khan encountered a setback earlier this year when Chinese authorities declined to open the mountain for climbing this season. Despite this, the mountaineer from Aliabad, Hunza, was bestowed with the prestigious Pride of Performance award in sports for his exceptional accomplishments.
