Slow Internet in Pakistan Expected Until September 1st

Internet services across Pakistan have been reportedly disrupted for several days, affecting all providers and causing widespread inconvenience. The issue, impacting social media platforms and causing difficulties with downloading audio messages, may persist until September 1st, according to sources.

While internet service providers blame social media platforms for the problem, mobile companies have denied involvement. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not commented on the situation.

The government is moving to regulate social media platforms, with plans to implement a categorization-based regulatory framework pending Federal Cabinet approval. New regulations will mandate data storage within Pakistan and require license holders to provide location and general information upon request.

Additionally, officials have suggested that ongoing work on a firewall might be contributing to the current service issues.

I work as a freelancer, mostly data scraping and back end development, and for the past few days i am unable to hold a single stable meeting with my clients as the connection is so slow that we can’t hear each other with often distortions due to extremely slow internet speed.

I already lost 2 clients because they think I am making up excuses to not initiate video meetings. The only option I am left with is to leave this country entirely.
