Since Friday, messaging applications like WhatsApp and other social media platforms have been experiencing significant slowdowns, with intermittent improvements followed by renewed issues.

Users have reported problems with downloading messages on WhatsApp, while Downdetector noted prolonged slowdowns for WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. Complaints surged again on Saturday after an initial improvement.

Despite these issues, NetBlocks, a platform monitoring internet restrictions, has not identified any anomalies in Pakistan’s internet traffic. The disruptions reportedly coincide with reports that Pakistani authorities are testing a firewall aimed at blocking and filtering certain social media content.
