Qayyum Shahid, son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and private hospital owner Dr. Shahid Siddique, has confessed to killing his father. During police interrogation, Qayyum admitted to hiring a gunman to carry out the murder.

Qayyum Shahid revealed that his motivation for the crime was his father’s refusal to support his marriage plans and provide financial assistance. He also confessed to orchestrating a previous attempt on his father’s life eight months ago in Chohang, paying Rs 5 million to a shooter for that attempt, adding that he paid Rs20 million for the second attack on Siddique.

Police reported that a white car was used to scout Siddique, with Qayyum also in the vehicle. On Friday, the victim withdrew cash from a bank and distributed it to those in need, while the car continued to trail him. Surveillance camera footage later revealed Qayyum conducting reconnaissance with the primary suspect.

The police have registered a case against Qayyum Shahid and have arrested him. He had led his father’s funeral prayers despite his involvement in the crime.
