Steve Carell, known for his iconic portrayal of Michael Scott on “The Office,” opens up about a significant personal milestone: fatherhood. In an interview with L’Officiel, the actor candidly discusses how raising children tops all other experiences in his life.

Carell, currently 63 years old, reveals that his two children—24-year-old daughter Annie and 21-year-old son John—are his proudest achievements. His reflections underscore a profound bond with his family as he recounts an amusing incident involving his performance on HBO’s “Rooster.”

During one scene where his character interacts with the daughter from his show, Carell inadvertently used Annie’s name when directing a line meant for his fictitious child.

“I hired her to work on set,” he fondly remembers. “And in one scene, I accidentally said, ‘I would do anything for Annie,’ instead of mentioning my character’s fictional daughter.”

Carell emphasizes that this slip-up was entirely understandable within the moment, as his mind had been preoccupied with thoughts of his own daughter during a crucial performance.

Throughout his decades-long career spanning both theater and television, Carell has consistently maintained a balance between public recognition and his family life. He explains: “It’s just always remained a job for me; I’ve never let fame define who I am.”

The actor’s words hint at the importance he places on not allowing celebrity status to intrude upon familial relations. He adds, “I didn’t want it to feel weird around my kids.” Carell’s relationship with his wife Nancy, whom he met in Chicago and married in 1995, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
