‘Supergirl’ Brings Relatable Hero to Big Screen

Milly Alcock, who plays Supergirl/Kara Zor-El in the new DC Studios comic book movie, says her character is a reluctant hero with humility. The Australian actor joined cast members Jason Momoa, Eve Ridley, and Matthias Schoenaerts at a UK sneak peek fan event in London on Thursday.

Alcock described her character as having “the highest highs and the lowest lows,” reflecting an empowering journey that has been both emotionally charged and professionally significant for her. The film is based on the 2021-22 comic book series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” and directed by Craig Gillespie, who aimed to portray a flawed yet relatable female superhero.

Jason Momoa, playing Lobo, expressed his pride in landing the role, which he considers a lifelong dream. He sees Lobo as a character that adds spice to the film and hopes fans will enjoy him enough for future appearances.

The movie is set to begin its global theatrical rollout on June 24.
