Switzerland secured a 4-1 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Los Angeles on Thursday. The win provided Switzerland with a strong chance of advancing to the knockout round as one of the top two teams in Group B.
The match saw coach Murat Yakin make significant changes at the 72nd minute, introducing forwards Johan Manzambi and Ruben Vargas. Immediately after, Manzambi scored on his first touch, followed by another goal from Vargas’ assist to Manzambi.
Bosnia-Herzegovina suffered a setback when Tarik Muharemovic was sent off for a sliding tackle on Breel Embolo. Despite this, they managed to score once more through Ermin Mamhic’s corner, but Switzerland sealed the win with a penalty in stoppage time by Xhaka.
Switzerland now leads Group B with four points, three ahead of the other teams, as Canada and Qatar face off later that day. Bosnia-Herzegovina fans filled the stadium despite it being their country’s second World Cup appearance.
