Tesla Launches Robotaxi Service in Miami, Expanding Beyond Texas

Tesla robotaxis hit Miami-Dade streets on Friday, marking a significant milestone for the company’s autonomous ride-hailing ambitions. Elon Musk’s Tesla announced via its official X account that “Robotaxi now available in Miami.” This expansion underscores Tesla’s efforts to boost adoption of its self-driving software, which is integral to CEO Elon Musk’s shift from EVs to AI and robotics.

Tesla also launched an unsupervised robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, in June following April announcements about expanding services to Dallas and Houston. In May, Musk predicted that fully self-driving cars without human safety monitors would become more prevalent in the U.S later this year.

The company’s second-quarter deliveries surpassed Wall Street estimates on Thursday, driven by a recovery in Europe. Tesla is now operating driverless vehicles in three U.S. states after initial rollouts across Texas and supervised testing in California’s San Francisco Bay Area.
