Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati Dies at 47 After Long Illness, Royal Palace Confirms

Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, eldest child of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, died at 47 after health issues and nearly four years in a coma. Hospitalized in December 2022 for heart condition, she was flown to Bangkok for treatment.

Condition worsened due to intra-abdominal infection, colitis, low blood pressure, arrhythmias, and blood-clotting disorders leading to her death on Thursday evening. Born December 7, 1978, Princess Pa known as Bajrakitiyabha studied law at Cornell University, worked in the Thai Office of Attorney-General, served as ambassador to Austria, Slovenia, and Slovakia, founded a charity for female inmates’ rights, and was appointed UN goodwill ambassador for rule of law in Southeast Asia.

In 2021, she joined the army where she held the rank of general and served as chief of staff in Royal Security Command. One of King Vajiralongkorn’s three children with formal titles and eligibility to ascend throne under constitution. Queen Mother passed away last October at age 93.
