Three Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred on Monday in a coordinated terrorist attack in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The tragedy unfolded with a quadcopter drone strike on an FC fort, followed by ambulances transporting the wounded coming under fire.
The assault occurred near Dargah Shaheedan in Bahadar Khel, within the jurisdiction of Khurram Muhammad Zai police station. Police confirmed that terrorists targeted the FC post using a drone, leaving at least five personnel injured. District Police Officer Saud Khan reported that as the ambulances carrying wounded officials were on their way to the hospital, they came under attack.
Three of the injured succumbed to their wounds while being transported by ambulance; two Rescue 1122 workers and another three FC members received medical treatment at Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital in Bannu. The attackers also set ambulances ablaze, adding a deadly twist to an already harrowing situation for the wounded.
Security forces launched a search and clearance operation in response to the incident; officials reported that the area has been secured, though investigations into the terrorists remain ongoing. This comes amid increased militant violence across Pakistan, reflecting rising tensions between Islamabad and Kabul following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.
