US President Trump convened a White House Situation Room meeting to address the renewed crisis around the Strait of Hormuz and negotiations with Iran. A senior US official stated that if no breakthrough is achieved soon, the war could resume within days.

The ceasefire over the Strait of Hormuz was set to expire in three days, with no final date for new talks between U.S. and Iranian negotiators. Iran’s announcement about renewed closure came less than 24 hours after Trump said a deal to end the war could happen “within a day or two.”
