U.S. President Donald Trump has praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for her willingness to offer assistance in the ongoing conflict with Iran. According to Corriere della Sera, an Italian newspaper, this praise followed a recent telephone conversation between the two leaders.

Meloni recently spoke about Italy’s intention to supply air-defense equipment to Gulf nations amid concerns over Iranian aerial attacks. She revealed these plans during a press conference held on Thursday.

Trump’s approval of Meloni’s assistance was also reported by Corriere della Sera, which quoted Trump as describing her leadership skills. Trump referred to Meloni as “a great leader” and praised her for always seeking opportunities to help others in need.

Simultaneously, Italy has prepared its navy vessel to sail towards Cyprus. A spokesperson from the Italian navy confirmed this move on Friday, stating it was part of an effort to safeguard Cyprus, which had been targeted by Iranian air strikes.

This cooperative stance between Italy and the U.S., alongside Israel, underscores a significant shift in regional security dynamics. As Iran continues its aggressive campaigns against Western interests, countries like Italy are positioning themselves as active allies rather than neutral observers.
