US President Donald Trump stated that the suspect involved in the shooting at the annual White House Correspondents’ dinner had several weapons. The president spoke to reporters after he and other senior US officials were evacuated from the event on Saturday night following a shooting outside the ballroom.

Trump indicated that the incident was not related to the war in Iran, but noted his actions towards Tehran could have made him a target. He emphasized that this would not deter him from winning the war in Iran.

The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, from Torrance, California, had been carrying several weapons before being stopped by the Secret Service. One agent was hit by gunfire but remained unharmed due to his bulletproof vest.

Washington interim police chief Jeffery Carroll told reporters that the gunman acted alone and was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives. The motive for the attack remains unclear.
