Trump to Attend July NATO Summit in Turkey, Rubio Confirms

US President Donald Trump will attend NATO meeting in Turkey this July. This comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed it during a congressional hearing, likely easing tensions across alliance capitals.

Despite his disappointment with NATO due to its reluctance to aid the US in the war against Iran, Trump’s attendance at the summit is expected. Rubio noted that Trump’s main frustration stems from some nations denying the US access to their military bases and naval forces during crises.

Trump has often referred to NATO as a “paper tiger” and threatened withdrawal, arguing that European allies rely on US security guarantees but provide insufficient support for the US-Israeli bombing campaign in Iran.
