US President Donald Trump stated that Israel and Hezbollah should immediately cease their attacks on each other, emphasizing that strikes in Beirut were inappropriate given the proximity of a peace deal.

Trump affirmed Israel’s right to self-defense but noted the minor nature of the attack, with no reported casualties. He expressed optimism about reaching an agreement for regional peace, including Lebanon, urging all parties not to hinder this process.

Earlier, Israel announced its military had targeted Hezbollah in Beirut following the group firing into Israeli territory. The Lebanese state news agency reported two fatalities from the strike.

Israel’s military claimed the attack was a response to Hezbollah violating their ceasefire and fired projectiles towards northern Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz jointly condemned the strikes on Lebanon as an act of retaliation for Iran’s Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Command, which vowed retribution against Israel.
