ISLAMABAD – The Turkish government expressed deep condolences on Sunday following a tragic bomb blast that occurred at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, resulting in numerous casualties. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the same day, conveying heartfelt sentiments from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ishaq Dar echoed his appreciation for Turkey’s solidarity during this difficult time and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of its citizens. The deputy prime minister highlighted how crucial it is to maintain national security and stability in a region that often grapples with such threats.

During their conversation, both leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as various matters of mutual interest, including important regional developments.

In separate comments, China also condemned the incident, emphasizing support for Pakistan’s efforts. The Chinese foreign ministry stated, “We are deeply shocked by Friday’s attack and mourn the loss of life.”

The attack in question occurred at a mosque when an assailant had managed to breach its gates before detonating a suicide bomb that left at least 31 people dead and many more injured. This was described as one of the deadliest such attacks since the city saw similar incidents over a decade ago.

“China is deeply shocked by the deadly explosion in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, and we mourn the lives lost,” said the Chinese statement. “Our hearts go out to all those affected.”

While this incident highlights the ongoing challenge of terrorism, both Turkey and China remain steadfast in their support for Pakistan’s fight against extremism. The leaders’ joint statements underscored their shared commitment to upholding peace and security in the region.
