Two independent candidates, victorious in the 2024 general elections, announced their decision to join Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), bolstering the party’s standing in the National Assembly (NA).
The independents, who have so far secured 102 seats in the NA, emerged as significant players in the election outcome, with some receiving party tickets following the rejection of their party’s preferred nominees.

With results announced for 257 out of 265 NA constituencies, independents lead with 102 seats, followed by PML-N with 73 and PPP with 54. Muttahida Qaumi Movement secured 17 seats, PML-Q with three, and other parties with varying numbers of seats.
Barrister Aqeel Malik, winner of Rawalpindi’s NA-54, attributed his victory to Nawaz Sharif, while Raja Khurram, winner of Islamabad’s NA-48 and a joint candidate for IPP and PML-N, also threw support behind PML-N.
