Applicants must demonstrate a minimum monthly income

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced new conditions for obtaining family Iqama, aimed at streamlining the residency process for expatriates residing in the country.

As per reports from local media, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship announced that any foreigner living in the Emirates can now apply for Iqama for their family members.

To qualify for family residence, applicants must demonstrate a minimum monthly income of either 4,000 dirhams or 3,000 dirhams, along with providing proof of residence.

Additionally, individuals above the age of 18 seeking family Iqama are required to undergo a medical examination, which must be conducted at approved medical facilities to be accepted.

Authorities further clarified that relatives of the Iqama holder who are already residing in the emirate on a temporary entry visa can convert their visitor visa into an Iqama.

The conversion process must be completed within 60 days of arrival in the UAE, as per the new regulations.
