UAE Introduces Police Clearance Requirement for Pakistani Work Visas

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new condition for Pakistani nationals seeking employment visas, requiring applicants to provide a police character certificate along with their visa application.

Adnan Paracha, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA), revealed that the measure was implemented in response to reports of Pakistani nationals engaging in begging and other unlawful activities in the UAE.

In addition, the UAE has expanded its visit visa restrictions, now banning applicants from 30 Pakistani cities, an increase from the previous 24.

Paracha also highlighted ongoing challenges in obtaining UAE work visas, which have left more than 100,000 Pakistanis unable to secure employment in the UAE over the past year.
