British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Friday that he would stand in any potential leadership contest. This follows the victory of potential rival Andy Burnham, who won a vote for a parliamentary seat to return to Westminster, opening the door for a challenge.
Starmer told reporters he did not believe a leadership contest would be beneficial for the country. However, he stated: “If there is a contest… then yes I will run, I will stand.”
“I’ve repeatedly said I’m not going to walk away from that,” Starmer added.
