Urban Meyer disclosed he initially advised Kyle Whittingham against joining Michigan’s football team before later endorsing his move.
On THE SCRIPT podcast, Meyer recounted receiving a call from the Wolverines and immediately suggesting Whittingham avoid Michigan.
Meyer coached Ohio State Buckeyes from 2012 to 2018 with an unbeaten record against Michigan, influenced by one of college football’s fiercest rivalries.
Despite this, Meyer later changed his stance after speaking further with Whittingham, stating it was a perfect fit and the right choice for the program.
Meyer also criticized recent controversies at Michigan, including NCAA investigations and the Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal, which eroded his respect for the team or program.
