Iran’s Foreign Minister Warns Against US Threats Ahead of Deal Talks
Iran’s foreign minister has stated that negotiations for a final deal between Tehran and Washington will not commence if the US continues its threats. This comes after President Donald Trump vowed to “finish the job” if no agreement is reached.
The interim deal signed last month stipulates in paragraph 13 that talks on a final deal will not start should threats persist. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized, “Honor your signature.”
Iranian Military Engages with Commercial Ships in Strait of Hormuz
Reports indicate that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired at least two missiles at commercial vessels navigating through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night.
The US is expected to respond with strikes against Iranian targets following these attacks, according to Axios. The state broadcaster also reported that a Qatari oil tanker was targeted after ignoring warnings while attempting to pass through the Omani route in the Strait of Hormuz with US Navy support.
UK Maritime Agency Reports Incident Off Oman’s Coast
The UK Maritime Trade Operations center reported an incident involving a tanker hit by an unknown projectile off the coast of Oman, leading to a fire on board. No casualties or environmental damage were reported, and authorities are investigating the incident.
