Global media outlets report a unique trend emerging in the Netherlands and Germany, where solar panels are repurposed as garden fences, showcasing the increasing affordability of solar technology.

Viral Social media images reveal the shift from traditional rooftop installations to innovative uses of solar panels due to high labor costs.

According to FT, Solar panels have become so cheap that they are being used to build garden fences in the Netherlands and Germany, as a boom in Chinese production saturates the global market.

The panels capture less sunlight when used as fencing than they do on roofs, but the process saves on high labour and scaffolding costs, according to analysts and posts on social media by households that have installed them.

The decline in solar panel prices, attributed to heightened production by Chinese companies, has flooded the global market, making it challenging for US and European manufacturers to compete. The International Energy Agency forecasts a tripling of global solar panel supply by year-end, driving prices down significantly.

In Pakistan, a similar trend is observed, with last year witnessing a notable reduction in solar panel prices. Systems ranging from seven to 15 kilowatts are now available for as low as Rs 200,000. Solar panel businesses in the country anticipate further price decreases, reflecting a global trend towards accessible solar technology.
