Dense fog continues to create chaos for air travel across Pakistan, causing the cancellation of 45 flights and contributing to a total of over 500 disrupted flights in January alone. The relentless fog has led to significant challenges, with passengers facing cancellations, delays, and missed connections.
Sialkot emerged as the worst-hit city, diverting flights from international destinations such as Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, and Muscat to Lahore due to poor visibility. The adverse weather conditions have significantly impacted various flight routes, with several cancellations and diversions affecting travel plans.
The Jeddah-Lahore flight (PF 717) experienced delays and had to wait for an hour before landing in Karachi, compounding the travel woes for affected passengers. Other flight routes, including those to Dubai, Multan, Dammam, Kuwait City, and Karachi, were shifted to Islamabad. Unfortunately, numerous flights, such as Sialkot-Sharjah, Sialkot-Doha, Lahore-Karachi, Lahore-Sharjah, Lahore-Jeddah, Islamabad-Karachi, Multan-Jeddah-Dubai, Karachi-Dammam-Muscat, and Jeddah-Multan-Gwadar, were canceled altogether.
The ongoing fog disruptions have left passengers stranded and frustrated, prompting complaints on social media about the lack of information and prolonged airport stays. With the Pakistan Meteorological Department issuing warnings of persistent fog in the coming days, travelers are advised to check with their airlines for updates and plan for potential travel delays during this challenging period.
