Women have emerged as the top winners in the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) competition to design new currency notes, securing first place for five of the seven denominations.
The designs for the Rs10, Rs100, Rs500, Rs1000, and Rs5000 notes were all created by female designers, while the Rs20 and Rs50 notes were designed by male artists.
The winners of the competition will receive cash prizes, with Rs1,000,000 for first place, Rs500,000 for second, and Rs300,000 for third in each category.
Earlier this year, the SBP invited the public to participate in the competition to update Pakistan’s banknotes. The newly designed notes are expected to enter circulation by the end of the year, while polymer-based notes will be introduced by the end of 2024.
