TasteAtlas, a prominent global food review publication, has ranked Zahid Nihari, nestled on Tariq Road in Karachi, at the impressive 89th position among must-visit restaurants in 2024.

According to TasteAtlas, Zahid Nihari is celebrated for its specialty in nihari, a slow-cooked beef stew renowned for its rich flavors and tender meat. The restaurant, situated in a basic, no-frills setting, is hailed as a landmark in Karachi for its commitment to delivering traditional Pakistani cuisine.

The website emphasizes that out of a staggering 23,751 traditional eateries featuring local dishes in its database, these 100 restaurants have distinguished themselves for their enduring presence, dependability, and the iconic status of both the restaurant and its signature dishes.

"These are not just places to eat, but also cultural institutions for their cities. They are ranked taking into account three criteria: longevity, visitors ratings, and the TasteAtlas ratings of the iconic dishes they offer," the website notes.

TasteAtlas, recognized as an encyclopedia of traditional dishes, local ingredients, and authentic restaurants worldwide, boasts a comprehensive catalog comprising over 10,000 foods and drinks. The platform continues to explore and map thousands more, contributing to its status as a go-to resource for culinary enthusiasts seeking authentic and iconic dining experiences globally.
