The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) declared on Thursday that it has intercepted 224 kilograms of methamphetamine at Karachi port, labeling it as the “largest ever” crystal ice seizure in Pakistan.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the narcotics were found concealed within a shipment of soapstone intended for Belgium via Afghanistan. The drugs were initially smuggled from Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing into Karachi. Subsequently, the smugglers attempted to hide the methamphetamine within the roofs and doors of five shipping containers.
ANF officials successfully seized all five containers at Karachi port. During the operation, three individuals involved in the smuggling, including two Afghan nationals, were apprehended while attempting to flee to Afghanistan through the Torkham border.
