Balochistan Faces Water Shortage
A letter has been sent from the Balochistan government to Sindh for taking measures to release allocated water under IRSA Agreement. The province is facing severe water shortage in Pit Feeder and Kherthar Canals.
According to irrigation officials, Sindh isn’t releasing water as per agreement terms. Engineer Mudassar Zafar Khosa wrote the letter urging immediate provision of water to Balochistan.
The discharge in Pit Feeder has reduced from 6500 to 2725 cusecs and supply has decreased by 58 percent. The official also stated that Sindh is diverting water intended for Balochistan, potentially affecting rice cultivation due to shortage. Third-party monitoring suggested for oversight.
