Bank Al Habib Limited (BAHL) will shut down its representative office in Nairobi on May 15, 2025, ending its presence in Kenya after seven years.

The Central Bank of Kenya approved the closure on April 30 under the country’s Banking Act and related prudential guidelines.

The bank stated that the decision followed a strategic review by its board and is part of a broader global restructuring initiative aimed at consolidating international operations and improving overall efficiency.

The Nairobi office functioned solely as a liaison and marketing hub, with no direct banking activity. BAHL will continue its overseas operations in Bahrain, China, Türkiye, the UAE, and the Seychelles.

While no specific reasons beyond restructuring were disclosed, the bank has yet to issue an official notice through the stock exchange.
