In the early hours of today, a violent clash erupted in Serai Naurang town within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, leaving one civilian dead and another injured. This incident occurred after armed men on motorcycles opened fire on a police patrol. Police officials confirmed that the assailants also engaged in a gun battle with law enforcement personnel.
The victims were taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for immediate medical attention. The escalating security situation in Lakki Marwat district has seen frequent militant assaults against police and security forces over the years, particularly from outlawed groups like the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). These attacks have targeted patrols, checkpoints, and police stations in areas such as Bannu and North Waziristan.
In a tragic sequence of events, two individuals were killed and ten injured earlier today following a bomb blast in Serai Naurang. Last month, militants fatally wounded a constable in the Darga forest area near Sarai Naurang. The district has witnessed increased tensions due to these recurring threats, prompting heightened vigilance among local authorities.
The recent incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement personnel and underscores the need for continued security measures to protect civilian lives and infrastructure in affected areas.
