David Cameron Lays Out Reasons for Andrew’s Firing from Trade Envoy Role

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, former Trade Envoy to the UK, faced dismissal due to misconduct accusations and his connection to Jeffrey Epstein. This led to 11 hours of police custody on his 66th birthday. The reasons for his removal are detailed in Robert Hardman’s book Elizabeth II: In Private, In Public – The Inside Story.

The chapter outlines the period from 2012-2016 when he was asked to step down by Queen Elizabeth due to Epstein connections. According to an excerpt, Mountbatten recalled telling the Queen he had to stand down as a trade envoy. He noted that the Queen was concerned about him but saw logic in his resignation.

Mountbatten also mentioned it became embarrassing for the Queen and her staff when Andrew attended events and made inappropriate remarks. For instance, at Davos, he was seen being crass during receptions. The Queen reportedly found this behavior concerning as well.

The revocation of Mountbatten’s titles, dukedom, and honors is linked to his association with Epstein, a child sex offender. Additionally, misconduct allegations in public office, such as sharing information with Epstein, contributed to the potential fate he faced.
