The government has launched a “one-window” registration process for virtual private networks (VPNs) through the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) website, amidst widespread and prolonged internet disruptions across the country.

The PTA stated that the VPN registration initiative is designed to support the operations of software companies, call centers, freelancers, and foreign embassies, ensuring that their activities remain legitimate, secure, and uninterrupted.

The registration process, which is currently being refined by the PTA, the Ministry of IT, PSEB, and P@SHA, has already seen over 20,000 IPs registered for VPN use since 2020.

Users are required to register their VPNs to ensure secure and continuous online operations. The registration can be completed at the following address: https://ipregistration.pta.gov.pk

This follows the government’s confirmation of the installation of a web monitoring system to manage online content. Earlier today, the Cabinet Division formally informed the National Assembly of the system’s implementation.

The PTA has already begun blocking websites and applications within Pakistan as part of this new content management system.
