Imran Khan, former Pakistani PM, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, receive a 14-year jail sentence for illegally profiting from state gifts, days before a crucial general election. This marks Khan’s second sentence in two days, adding to a three-year term for corruption.

The latest case revolves around accusations of misusing state gifts while in office. Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, reveals that the sentencing disqualifies him from future political roles for a decade.

Khan plans to appeal to the High Court, alleging political motivation behind the charges. Bushra Bibi, who surrendered at the jail, joins Khan in detention, marking a dramatic turn for the couple who married in 2018.

The case, known as the Toshakhana scandal, centers on allegations that the couple sold or kept state gifts for personal gain, including a jewelry set from the Saudi Crown Prince.
