The Islamabad High Court has dismissed petitions filed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi seeking the suspension of their sentences in a £190 million corruption case.

The court noted that with main appeals scheduled for hearing on May 7, the petitions for sentence suspension have become futile. The two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar will hear the main appeals.

Lawyers for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had requested that their petition for sentence suspension be heard before the main appeals but were unsuccessful. Once the main appeals are set to be heard, any petitions for sentence suspension lose significance.

In this high-profile case, Imran Khan was sentenced to 14 years in prison and fined Rs1 million while his wife Bushra Bibi received a seven-year prison term and a fine of Rs500,000.
