Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei was reportedly injured only slightly during a February airstrike that killed his father, according to Iran’s Health Ministry. The ministry’s spokesperson, Hossein Kermanpour, dismissed reports suggesting Khamenei was seriously wounded, stating he sustained superficial injuries to his face, head, and legs which did not require special treatment or amputations.

Kermanpour added that the Supreme Leader was discharged from hospital early on the following day. This statement aimed to counter recent claims by The New York Times that Khamenei suffered severe burns and underwent multiple operations on one leg. Iranian officials have consistently maintained that Khamenei remains in good health and continues to participate in diplomatic talks with the United States amid regional conflict.
