Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that recent events in the Strait of Hormuz have made it evident there is no military solution to a political crisis.
In a Monday night post on X, Araghchi highlighted ongoing progress in indirect talks between Iran and the United States, crediting Pakistan for its “sincere and constructive” mediation efforts. He wrote, “As talks advance thanks to Pakistan’s gracious efforts, the US should be cautious of being drawn into a quagmire by ill-wishers. The same applies to the UAE.”
Araghchi also dismissed President Donald Trump’s so-called “Project Freedom,” labeling it “Project Deadlock.” His comments come as Iran continues to demonstrate its defensive capabilities and firm control over the strategically vital waterway, indicating that attempts to impose outcomes through force or intimidation are unlikely to succeed. Iranian officials maintain that sustainable regional security hinges on mutual respect, adherence to sovereignty, and serious dialogue free from threats and sanctions. Pakistan’s role in facilitating these talks has been widely praised, reflecting Iran’s clear desire for dialogue and peaceful solutions rather than confrontation.
