In 2014, Kanye West made a bold claim about his former collaborator, Jay-Z, stating the latter was the poster child of winning while he was known for fighting and winning but always seeing the fight. Now over a decade later, Jay-Z has finally addressed this comment.

Telling GQ Magazine, Jay-Z gave examples from his tracks You Must Love Me, Regrets, and Soon You’ll Understand, explaining that these songs give an insight into pain and hard lessons he endured. He also noted that sometimes acknowledging victories can be so significant that people forget the losses.
