Chief Justice Yahya Afridi convened a meeting on April 28 to consider transferring five Islamabad High Court judges without their consent under new constitutional amendment.
The proposal includes two judges being transferred to the Lahore High Court and three others posted to high courts in Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sources said that two judges are likely to be transferred from Islamabad to Lahore, while the remaining three may be assigned to the high courts of Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Under the 27th Constitutional Amendment, Article 200 was revised to remove the requirement for judges’ consent in transfers. If a judge does not agree with the transfer after the commission’s decision, they may face forced retirement.
