Renowned psychologist Dr Muhammad Imran Yousuf (Sitara-e-Imtiaz) stressed the need for focused effort, positive habits, and self-belief to improve mental health, especially among students. Speaking as chief guest at the Hamdard Naunehal Assembly’s monthly session in Karachi, he urged young people to set clear academic goals and pursue them with dedication, adding that “each small success builds confidence.”

Held at the Bait al-Hikmah Auditorium, the session focused on “Children’s Mental Health: Challenges of Anxiety, Stress, Depression, and Fatigue.” Dr Yousuf called for a balanced approach to social media and mobile phone use, warning that excessive use can harm mental well-being. “Every action should serve a constructive purpose,” he said.

He also encouraged students to help classmates, noting that teaching others strengthens one’s own knowledge and mental wellness. Reflecting on Pakistan’s cultural values, he emphasised forgiveness, kindness, and gratitude.

Dr Yousuf praised Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said as a national role model, while commending Ms Sadia Rashid’s leadership at Hamdard Foundation. The event featured student speeches, a theatre performance, and concluded with Dua-i-Said. Director Syed Muhammad Arsalan was also present.
