Miranda Kerr discussed her post-marriage co-parenting dynamic with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom for the We Need to Talk podcast on February 3. Kerr revealed that after six years of marriage and a split in 2013, they decided to go their separate ways. Both parties acknowledged that the relationship was not beneficial for either person or for their son, Flynn, who is now 15.

Miranda stated, “We both knew that the relationship wasn’t bringing out our best selves. When we chose to separate, I told Orlando, ‘Let’s always put the needs of Flynn first.'”

They worked together to rebuild their connection and negotiate coparenting responsibilities, which required effort and spiritual work. This included forgiving each other and themselves.

“Forgiving each other and creating peace within ourselves,” Kerr continued, “was crucial for us.”

After splitting up, they focused on Flynn’s well-being rather than their own needs.

“When you have a child with someone else, they are always going to be that person’s parent for the rest of their life,” she noted.

Kerr admitted she initially struggled with setting boundaries early in her co-parenting journey. However, meeting her current husband, Evan Spiegel, helped her improve this area. “My husband has good boundaries,” Kerr shared. She used to accommodate some last-minute changes from Orlando.

Currently, she is a mother of three more children – Hart, Myles, and Pierre – whom she shares with Evan.
