Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today, Monday, to discuss whether Pakistan’s national cricket team should participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Additionally, consultations with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar have also been planned.
The national squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has already been announced; however, questions regarding Pakistan’s participation remain unresolved. In a firm statement, Mohsin Naqvi asserted that the PCB rejects what it perceives as “double standards” by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in relation to Bangladesh’s request.
Naqvi emphasized that the PCB will adhere completely to the government’s decision on this matter. Federal Information Minister Fawad Aslam Tarar confirmed that ongoing consultations are taking place and assured that a final decision regarding participation will be communicated to the public once made.
