Pakistan Demands Safe Return of Detained Sailors Near Singapore

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure the safe repatriation of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian sailors detained by U.S. forces near Singapore.

Dar spoke with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, requesting assistance in ensuring the welfare and return of those held on ships allegedly seized for violating a naval blockade on Iran.

He also discussed the matter with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, noting both nations are closely coordinating efforts to resolve the situation.

Pakistan is prepared to facilitate the return of Iranian nationals via its territory if necessary. The deputy prime minister acknowledged Singapore’s cooperation and stated that Pakistan’s Foreign Office and relevant agencies are in contact with multiple stakeholders, including U.S. authorities, to ensure the safety and prompt repatriation of its citizens.
