Pakistan Faces 3,500MW Power Shortfall Amid Loadshedding Challenges in Court

Pakistan’s Power Crisis Exceeds 3,500MW

Across all distribution companies in Pakistan, power shortfall has exceeded 3,500 megawatts, leading to increased unannounced load shedding. In Lahore, LESCO faces a shortfall of over 1,000 megawatts.

NTDC sources attribute the issue to shortages of RLNG, hydropower, and oil. The absence of a proper loadshedding schedule has resulted in power cuts extending up to six hours instead of two.

Officials warn that the crisis may persist for several more days, causing continued public inconvenience. Meanwhile, a petition is being filed in Lahore High Court against unannounced load shedding, demanding equal electricity supply and an end to outages.
